The men in the book 'Men of steel discipline' possessed various types of transferable skills which they have learned through martial arts that allowed them to achieve greatness throughout life and in their careers. Studying martial arts can allow me to gain a vast amount of skills that can aid me in my business and personal career. Martial arts can teach me discipline which is useful because as a pediatrician I would have to stay focused and also maintain self control even if there is turmoil around me on the job. I can listen and find solutions to any problem for others and stay self motivated. Discipline also helps with life crisis it can allow me to remove myself from adverse situations that can put my well being and my career in danger. I can also gain tolerable skills through martial arts. Louis Mosley said that 'my training gave me an opportunity to have more tolerance of other people'. Being tolerable can be useful for my career as I will encounter people with different issues and various characteristics therefore with this skill I can tackle those challenges stay professional and get my work done while tending to peoples needs. A major part of succeeding in ones career is learning how to sacrifice. I've learned that nothing is handed in life and for everything gained something is lost. Like George Harris who trained day and night in order to gain the achievements he did in Judo, so will hard work and determination which I've learned in martial arts. If I put in the work and remain dedicated I can attain any goal I set out. Ronald Duncan stated that 'survival is a key word today in this world'. Survival skills learned through martial arts can be transferred into the work-place. Persons on my job may try to deter me or bring me down but with my survival skills I can stay strong keep my head up through all the tactics and remain unwavering. Possessing a strong mentality gives me the advantage to tackle any challenge in my career like George Harris did and go after it with the zeal of a lion and come out on top no matter what I attempt. James Field stated that ' sensei would always keep your mind working' this can benefit me most in my career as it can allow me to constantly be churning out innovative ideas and think of diverse ways where the patient can be helped. http://miyamaryujujutsu.com
